AutoGen is a Python (and .NET) framework for building multi-agent applications in which agents converse to solve tasks, with a no-code AutoGen Studio. Microsoft has placed it in maintenance mode: no new features, community-managed, with a migration guide to Microsoft Agent Framework, which merges AutoGen and Semantic Kernel. The last release was v0.7.5 in September 2025; 2026 commits are limited to security hardening and the maintenance banner.
Deprecated. In maintenance mode: the README states AutoGen 'will not receive new features or enhancements and is community managed going forward' and directs new users to Microsoft Agent Framework (1.0 GA April 2026). Last release python-v0.7.5 on 2025-09-30.
